A taste of the Delta

Hard to get any more Southern than this.

Judging from Heepke's face here, I missed something. (Either that, or she was just
taken aback at how good the food was.)

Some bona fide Southern cooking for lunch at Dockery Farms, near Cleveland — arranged for us by Lacey Fitts, a professor at Delta State University (and a good friend of Witt Biology prof Richard Phillips).

Luther Brown, of the DSU Delta Center for Culture and Learning, joined us for lunch — along with his wife, Bonnie —and talked with us about the history, culture, and heritage of the Delta. (He also gave us these cool buttons.)
